Pharmacist

As a Primary Care Network Clinical Pharmacist, you will have the unique opportunity to dramatically impact primary care reform in Calgary. Working collaboratively with patients, physicians and other allied health professionals you will
  • provide clinical services as required for challenging, complex and chronic care patients
  • conduct medication reviews and provide drug education
  • consult with other health care providers including family physicians and referring physicians for the identification and implementation of strategies and interventions directed by the treatment program
  • train, mentor and liaise with a group of Registered Nurses
Targeted patients are the elderly; those with complex medical conditions; those on multiple medications and those on medications requiring therapeutic drug monitoring.

You will work in the Access Geriatric Health program providing pharmacy consultation for family physicians and the multidisciplinary team, and will also play a key role in the Discharge Planning program providing post-discharge management and readmission intervention/prevention.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required
  • Licensed with the Alberta College of Pharmacists as a practicing member
  • Additional credentialing or training in specialty programs (eg, Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, Certified Diabetes Educator, and Certified Asthma Educator) and research experience will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years expertise/experience in providing pharmaceutical care.

Job: Part time Pharmacy Technician/Assistant

The RFP ( Regional Fertility Program) Pharmacy is a small but busy clinic pharmacy located inside Foothills Professional building. Hours of operation are 8am-2pm Monday to Friday. Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assisting the Pharmacists with daily operations of the Pharmacy Department.  Duties will include communications with patients and members of the health care team in the clinic, cashier duties, telephone, sending out prescriptions via courier, using the computer (prescriptions, ordering/receiving, courier etc.), assist in the processing of prescriptions and preparation of prescriptions, involvement of ordering and receiving drug orders and management of the pharmacy inventory.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following

  • Good interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, staff, & management.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with a high level of enthusiasm.
  • Ability to relate to all levels of customers and their needs.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team player and have a team approach
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience preferable.

We are currently seeking a part-time Pharmacist to work at our Calgary location 3 days/week (20-23 hours/week) in a comfortable office and cleanroom environment. Regular business hours are 7am-3pm & 8am-4pm; no evenings, nights, weekends or holidays!

The anticipated start date is September 2009. During the first 3-4 weeks of employment, the incumbent must be available to work regular full-time hours to complete necessary training and orientation.

This position holds primary responsibility for coordinating daily supervision of all staff and activities involved in providing compounded IV medications to home patients, in accordance with established corporate procedures and provincial pharmacy laws.

The Pharmacist is responsible for controlling processes, to ensure that all products meet both professional and corporate standards of accuracy and quality. The incumbent will participate in departmental clinical and quality improvement initiatives, as well as assist with improving pharmacy performance.
