QuitCore (a Group Smoking Cessation Program) is an evidence-based group program designed to help people quit smoking, and will be available in several cities and towns across Alberta. Starting on September 30, 2008 QuitCore is being offered in Airdrie, Calgary, Camrose, Claresholm, Edmonton,Fort McMurray, Stettler, and Wetaskiwin. QuitCore is based on a program that has helped a record number of people quit and began more than 25 years ago in Calgary, Alberta, as a program offered through the Alberta Cancer Board. The 14 week course includes 8 in-depth sessions that teach participants how to quit in the most effective way possible.
QuitCore is a free group support program, led by trained professionals, that teaches people how to quit smoking and connects them with others who are also quitting. Sessions run in the evening from 7:00 to 8:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday depending on their location. For more information please call us toll-free at 1-866-710-QUIT [7848]. QuitCore will also be offered again starting at the end of January 2009.
